Do you want to help with the advancement of renewable energy? DNV Energy Systems is hiring a Project Manager Solar Independent Engineering within our team. In this role, you will work on a variety of solar and solar + storage projects throughout North America, expose yourself to the entire project life cycle, and work with major developers and financiers.

This role is based at our DNV office in Toronto (CA) and Montreal (QC) and presents a hybrid schedule of typically three days per week working from a DNV office or client location.

• Initiate and coordinate the technical review process among internal specialists, including civil and electrical engineering, energy assessment, technology, and permitting teams, and synthesize and write due diligence reports.
• Perform overall project management activities and ensure excellent customer communication as the key point of contact for the execution of due diligence engagements.
• Perform portions of due diligence reviews, including contract and financial model reviews, and synthesize inputs from technical disciplines and other reviews within your expertise.
• Discuss and resolve technical issues with project developers, lenders, and investors, coordinating input from internal technical specialists.
• Develop and win proposals for scopes of services related to due diligence work.
• Coordinate or perform DNV construction monitoring and site visit activities.
• Support customers through the financial closings of projects.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts, including leading tool development, process refinement, digitization, and lessons learned activities.

Compensation: The range of starting pay for this role is $95,000 - $135,000.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, business, energy, or other related field is required
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the solar industry
• Deft project and time management skills, including an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines
• Fluent in MS Office
• Solution oriented thinking skills and high integrity
• Understanding of energy industry technology (modules, inverters, mounting systems/trackers, balance of system, etc.)
• Supportive, resilient, flexible and proactive team member, eager to work in a collaborative environment
• Proven HSE mindset and demonstrated behavior‑based safety mentality
• Possesses a digitally curious mindset and has knowledge in AI, automation and digital tools, with demonstrated experience in continuous improvement activities

• Master’s degree
• Experience in at least one of: solar industry construction and operating contracts, solar project construction, operations/asset management, solar project design/development, module/inverter technology, energy assessment, power marketing/offtake contracting, energy storage technology and implementation, market research/policy, or independent engineering function
• Exposure to contracts (construction, supply, operations, interconnection, offtake, subscription, and/or asset management contracts)
• Familiarity with budgets and financial models
• Working knowledge of PVsyst and solar energy assessment
• Working knowledge of the solar project financing process (direct experience preferred)
• Project management designation
• Familiarity with energy storage systems
